Courtney Tong is a social worker in the Fetal Treatment Center of UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital where she counsels families who face complex pregnancies or whose babies require intensive care after birth. She arranges consultations for parents to meet with a neonatologist to discuss the care newborns may receive and conducts private tours of Labor & Delivery and the Intensive Care Nursery.
Ms. Tong earned a master's degree in social work at University of Washington with an emphasis in Health/Mental Health. She started her social work career as the Burn Center Social Worker and Lead Pediatric Social Worker at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. In 2001, Ms. Tong returned to San Francisco (where she was born and raised) and started working at UCSF Children’s Hospital providing coverage to the Neuro-Surgery, Neuro-Oncology, Neurology services and the Spina Bifida Clinic as well as providing weekend and on-call coverage to the entire Children’s Hospital. She joined the LIFE Clinic in March 2014 and the Fetal Treatment Center in April 2015.
