Jensen, MD, MS, FACS, is Assistant Professor at UCSF, Associate Director of the Pediatric Surgery Fellowship, and Associate Trauma Medical Director at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland. He was trained at the University of Washington in General Surgery prior to completing fellowships in Pediatric Surgery, Minimally Invasive Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care at the Children's Hospital Los Angeles. He joined the UCSF faculty in 2019.

Focusing on decreasing the impact of injury in children, Dr. Jensen's research program includes development and evaluation of injury prevention programs, trauma epidemiology, outcomes research related to critical treatments, and innovative approaches to using simulation-based training to improve teamwork during trauma resuscitation. Dr. Jensen has received research funding from the National Institutes for Health and from the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma.

Dr. Jensen was recognized nationally by the American College of Surgeons, having been selected to participate in the Future Trauma Leaders program in 2016. He participates nationally in trauma quality improvement initiatives to improve trauma care for children in the United States.
